Vehicle Unloading
Prior to unloading a vehicle, all PPE must be worn. This can be collected from the drivers cab. Do not start unloading a vehicle without your PPE as this will increase the likelihood of injury.

Vehicle Arrival
When the vehicle arrives on site, stand well clear, in a well lit area and await for the vehicle to come to a complete stop with the engine switched off before approaching. Do not stand behind the vehicle or enter it's blind spot at any time.

Vehicle Unloading
The driver will exit the vehicle and hand you the PPE from the front of the cab. This must be worn prior to work commencing. The driver will then operate the tail lift, doors and locking mechanisms. Under no circumstances may operatives manually operate the tail lift.

Vehicle access
The driver will inform you when you may enter the rear of the vehicle to begin unloading activities. No access to the rear of the vehicle is permitted prior to the driver instructing you to do so. Only when the driver has given operatives permission may they enter the back of the vehicle to begin unloading.

Unloading
All tools and equipment shall be unloaded from the rear of the vehicle working towards the front. The driver will raise and lower the tail lift so that materials can be loaded and unloaded. Once unloading has completed, operatives will vacate the rear of the vehicle, the driver will operate the tail lift, secure it into position and return to their vehicle. Operatives are to stand clear as the vehicle leaves site.
